A whole grain, sourdough bakeshop on Orcas Island, WA.

We would like to acknowledge our presence on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples. They lovingly stewarded the land and sea for millennia before being displaced by European colonizers. We honor them and pay our deepest respect to those who came before us.

For community, by community.

Seabird is a weekly pop-up bakeshop focused on sourdough pastries and donuts made with locally grown whole grains, produce, and eggs. There is a strong community of small farms and growers on the island, and we’re lucky and proud to bake with the products that they lovingly provide.

We spend our money within our community, and do our best to keep it flowing locally, which can be a challenge in a tourist driven economy. Our produce and eggs come from local farms within the San Juan Islands and our flour is grown and milled in the Skagit Valley.

We spend a lot of time foraging plants that grow wild and give us distinct connections to particular seasons on the island; like nettles, nootka rose, elderflower, and blackberries. There’s a whole world of edible plants on every hike or dog walk, and it’s incredibly fun to utilize these ingredients in our baked goods, and we hope that it brings a tiny bit more connection between our customers and the land they are living on.

We bake with the seasons, embracing the best of what the land has to offer week by week.

We do a pop-up every Saturday at Matia from 9-noon (sometimes sooner if we sell out!) Due to our dependence on the seasons, our offerings change weekly based on what is farmed, foraged, and what we feel like making.
